Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about how Webperf Cloud works. If your question isn't here, email hello@webperf.cloud and we'll answer it directly.

How does the free trial work?

You get 14 days of monitoring for one website, at the Starter level, without entering a card. Fill in your work email and your website's address on the trial page, then confirm through the link we send you. Your email domain needs to match the website you want to test, so name@example.com can start a trial for example.com. Each domain can be trialed once. The trial does not include data export, IndexNow or webhooks.

How do I buy a plan?

Starter and Standard can be bought directly on the site. You confirm your email, then pay by card through Stripe Checkout. One payment covers a full 12 months. For the Agency plan, or anything custom, email hello@webperf.cloud and we'll set it up with you.

Do subscriptions renew automatically?

No. You pay once for a year and we never charge you again automatically. There is no ongoing contract and nothing to cancel. When the year ends, it's entirely up to you whether to renew, and buying again simply adds more time.

If you don't renew, nothing is deleted. You keep your login, your test history and your reports, and you can still export them. What stops is the testing: we don't run scheduled tests after the end date, and new tests can't be ordered until you renew.

How do I upgrade from Starter to Standard?

Email hello@webperf.cloud and you pay the difference. There's no need to cancel or start over, and your history stays intact.

How do I log in? I never got a password.

There are no passwords. Enter your email on the login page and we send you a sign-in link. The link is valid for 48 hours and works once you click it.

What does Webperf Cloud actually test?

Your website's accessibility (against WCAG), performance, web standards and best practice, privacy and information security, and on-page SEO. Every plan also includes an audit of cookies set without consent and the third-party services your pages contact. The tests come from our open source engine, so you can read exactly what is measured and why.

Does this replace an expert review?

No, and we'd rather say so up front. Webperf Cloud is a starting point: an automated overview of your website's quality and a benchmark you can track. That is genuinely useful to novices and professionals alike, and it covers the measurable, repeatable part of the work that nobody should be paying a specialist to redo every month.

What it doesn't do is settle complicated matters. Automated accessibility checks catch the machine-checkable issues; they can't tell you whether a page makes sense read aloud or whether a custom widget really works with a screen reader. A cookie inventory can't tell you whether a particular transfer is lawful. A score can't tell you which fix is worth your next sprint. Those are judgement calls, and they belong to the people who know your business, or to the specialists you bring in for them.

None of which is a knock on automated testing, and professionals are not the sceptics here. Accessibility specialists, performance consultants and agencies run exactly these kinds of audits themselves — it's the first pass in their toolbox, the quick way to clear the obvious, machine-checkable problems so the expensive hours go to the parts only a person can judge. Having the same checks running continuously means the obvious things are already dealt with before your expert walks in, and they can start on the hard questions with a live audit in front of them instead of a week of inventory work.

What score scale do you use?

Scores run from 1 to 5, where 5 is best. You get one overall score plus separate scores for accessibility, web standards, performance, and privacy, so you can see which area moved when the overall number changes.

Why don't my scores match PageSpeed Insights?

Both tools run Google Lighthouse, but in different lab conditions. Different servers, throttling, hardware and cache states move the number, and a 10 to 15 point gap is normal. What matters is the trend in one consistent tool, not the absolute number. We wrote a longer explanation in Why Webperf Cloud and PageSpeed Insights scores don't match.

How often is my site tested?

Daily on Starter, and up to twice daily on Standard and Agency. On top of that you can rerun tests manually, up to 30 times per month on Starter and up to 90 on Standard, and order one-off tests of specific pages whenever you like.

Can you test a staging site, or a site behind a firewall?

Yes, on Standard and Agency. We can test from static IP addresses, so you can allowlist our servers in your firewall or WAF and we'll reach your staging, UAT or protected production site. We share the current list of addresses when you enable it, and we notify you if they change. Sites that shouldn't be treated as public can be flagged as an intranet. Email support@webperf.cloud to arrange that.

What is the monthly audit, and what is the baseline report?

The monthly audit crawls your site and tests each page for accessibility, performance, SEO and best practice, up to 250 pages on Starter and 750 on Standard. You get the result as a navigable HTML report. The baseline report is a separate one-time snapshot of up to 2000 pages, included when you start on Standard. You choose when to run it, right away or after a bigger overhaul. Both include the cookie and third-party check.

How do test quotas work?

Your plan gives you a testing allowance that everything draws from, including audits, manual reruns and one-off page tests. The allowance works on a rolling 30-day window rather than resetting on the first of the month. If an order would exceed what you have left, we tell you before anything runs, so you can't overspend by accident.

What are webhooks and how do I set one up?

A webhook is a signal we send to a URL you control the moment a test run finishes, so your own systems can react. Post an alert in your team chat, flag a release, or open a ticket. You add the webhook address on the website's info page in your dashboard, with a score threshold if you only want to hear about drops. One webhook per site, available on Standard and Agency. The receiving URL needs to be reachable on the public internet.

What is the IndexNow integration?

IndexNow tells search engines such as Bing right away when pages on your site are added, changed or removed, instead of waiting for the next crawl. We submit new and changed URLs from your sitemap automatically. You enable it from the website's info page by verifying a key file on your server, or by registering a key you already use through your CMS. Available on Standard and Agency.

What can I do with the API?

The API gives you your sites' latest results, monthly score history, and finished audits, and lets you trigger retests, one-off tests of up to 10 URLs, new audits, and readability (LIX) checks. You generate your personal API key from the API page in your dashboard. It's available on Standard and Agency, and on Agency one key works across your whole portfolio of client sites.

Where is my data hosted?

Within the EU, full stop. Our servers run with Glesys and Oderland in Sweden and Hetzner in Finland and Germany, with the remaining hardware operated by Webperf AB in Sweden. Your data stays under EU jurisdiction. We don't sell it, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.

Can I export my data?

Yes. From the tools page in your dashboard you can order a full export of your historical test data, delivered as a CSV file. Your data remains yours to export even after a subscription ends. Export isn't available during the free trial.

Is the testing engine really open source?

Yes. The engine that grades your site is webperf_core, publicly available on GitHub. Every test is code you can read, question, and even run yourself.

Can several people share one account?

Yes. Whoever starts the account becomes its administrator and can invite multiple people to it, including a shared team mailbox or an outside supplier such as your web agency. Sign-in links go to each person's own email, and everyone invited sees the same websites and shares the same testing allowance.

Support is a different matter: it is included for the account's main user, not for everyone invited. Your web agency is welcome in the dashboard if you invite them, but that doesn't entitle them to support from us — an agency that wants to raise its own questions needs a plan of its own. Answers we give you are of course yours to pass on to whoever works on the site.

What languages does the service support?

The dashboard is available in English and Swedish. Test results and reports can be produced in English, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Icelandic or Finnish, and the language is set per website.

How do I reach a human?

Email us. support@webperf.cloud for help with your account and questions about how the tests and grades work, hello@webperf.cloud for sales and plan questions, and order@webperf.cloud for orders and billing. Real people answer, usually within two working days.
